Brian Tschernega

Brian Tschernega, the two time champion of the NBTHK (Japanese National Sword Museum) Habaki making contest, will be performing live demonstrations of his craft.  Brian is a specialist at repair and restoration of sword fittings, in addition to being a world renowned habaki craftsman.  Take advantage of this opportunity to speak with a true artist and craftsman about your restoration project.

Woodrow "Woody" Hall

Woodrow "Woody" Hall, one of the preeminent sword polishers in North America, will be demonstrating traditional Japanese sword polishing.  Woody trained under acclaimed American sword polisher Robert Benson,  and currently has a 6-9 month wait list!  This is a rare chance to discuss your swords that are in need of polish in person, and to obtain an estimate.

Mike Yamasaki

Mike Yamasaki, the NBTHK All Japan Kantei (sword identification/appraisal) Contest Champion will be giving a lecture on sword appraisal.  Mike is the first and only American to win the All Japan Kantei Contest, and is the longest running guest expert on the hit TV Show Pawn Stars.  He will be explaining the basics of pulling swords out of the woodwork; what to look for, and more importantly, what to look out for!

11:00am until 3:30pm

Additionally, from 11:00am until 3:30pm Mike Yamasaki will be giving free verbal appraisals for Japanese Swords (limit two swords per person)  Whether you inherited a sword and want to learn more about it, or found a sword at a swap meet and want to know what it's worth, now's your chance to learn about your Japanese sword by one of the most knowledgeable experts in the world.
